In the Yukon at high noon! . . . on my way down to British Columbia and on back into Alaska . . .

Near Haines, AK the Eagles gather and feed on fish coming into spawn through one of the more shallow areas of the river . . .

Two working on fish, one visitor and one watching for any leavings . . .

Coming down through the Yukon outside of Beaver Creek

Looking east out of Palmer following the King River

Outside of Palmer looking back . . .

Ok, so Mt. McKinley really is in that pic . . . no good pics and corp managment has decided to delay the project . . . the project team is disbanded and I'm headed back to the lower 48 . . . so . . . an adventure . . . a drive across Alaska to catch the Alaska Marine Highway at Haines . . .

Yes, Haines, AK where the eagles gather in mid November and hang out through the winter . . .

20081114

I keep kicking myself for missing those pics of Mt. McKinley from a couple weeks ago . . . but this is the shot out my window at work . . . The sleeping woman . . . the Alaska Range is just north of this range . . . and a gorgeous site.

The best views tend to be in the fall and winter when the air is crystal clear . . . of course that isn't when I have my camera in hand!

20081111

Pretty little city on the inlet . . . it is snowing now . . . I may just have to get another pic with her covered in white! . . . enjoy . . .

My current view . . .

Starting a new project . . . and the views are spectacular!

Winter in Alaska . . . not so bad so far.

As time goes on . . . I'll work on getting some decent pics on here . . .

Adventures continue . . . but my camera is broke . . . off being repaired, so I haven't been keeping up with the blogging . . . the project continues and has caught a bit of drag . . . I've traveled a bit of here there and everywhere . . . gorgeous drive down the coast and back, quick trip to Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland . . . summer trips around this area of central Washington . . . oh, where is that camera . . . now making a quick jaunt to Anchorage . . . be back to blogging soon!

Wanapum Dam Tour . . . thanks Donna!

Vortex at one of the spill ways . . . a good reason not to be anywhere near this dam on the water.

Fish ladders . . . a big deal here . . . one on either side of the dam and this is peak season watching them moving up the river!

The new fish spillway . . . lets the fish move down stream with less damage than going through the turbines or across the spill ways . . . and a great feeling of vertigo standing over it!

Spring/Summer flows . . . spillways passing water and generating all the power it can . . .

And one of the locals heading up the ladder . . .

The action at one of the spillway gates . . .

A quick stop . . .

Snoqualamie Falls . . .

Pretty little falls on the west side of the Cascades outside of North Bend on I-90 around 40 miles east of Seattle. Has a real nice looking Inn next to it . . .

Looking down to the base of the falls . . .
There is a persistent raindbow to be seen and the
wind keeps a fairly persistent spray from the falls
falling on the overlook . . .

A different angle looking down to the base of the falls from the top of the overlook . . . a little vertigo for you . . .

Wow, June already . . . the project progresses . . . had a great long weekend . . . with barbequeing galore . . . and the above pic from my neice and her boyfriends fishing trip . . .

Just a few of the participants . . . enjoying the warm weather . . .

Took the long drive from the project to pick up my sister and friend . . . while listening to the second and third books in a series, driving down the Oregon Coast . . . and back up, of course . . .

I don't know why, but didn't even stop to take any pics along the way . . . unusual for me!

OK, so maybe not . . . always have the camera around, but usually forget to use it!

20080516

It has been a busy couple weeks . . . no time for travel . . . pics taken recently have been for use on the project . . . spring on the Columbia River . . . the temps are just starting to rise . . . as is the water level . . . hellish winds through the valley . . . someone lost a load of bees . . . so there has been a cloud of angry bees right around one turn in the road, keep your windows up!

Oscar is home!

At about 5:30am this morning . . . the lost little miscreant came strolling home . . . a bit thinner but apparently no worse for the wear . . .

Cowboy and Indian Auction . . .

This weekend was a drive down to Redmond, OR where the Annual Cowboy and Indian Auction was taking place. An interesting experience . . . the items to be auctioned provide a good part of that interesting . . . and another part was the drive . . .

Once across the Columbia and heading south . . . there is a lot of this . . . in central/eastern Oregon. Miles and miles of miles . . . farming grass, ranching . . . and sparely peopled.

But as you get further down . . . past Madras you see some interesting rock formations . . . This is Smith Rock . . .

No confirmation . . . the search continues

The search continues for Oscar . . . many tips for conducting the search have been provided . . . several individuals in the area have been very helpful. Though there has been some possible sightings it has not been determined if the cat seen is actually Oscar . . . trying to enlist more help in the search . . . we would really like to see Oscar home . . .

20080501

A sighting . . . possible positive outcome . . . stay tuned . . . Oscar may get home yet!

20080428

A wandering weekend

A nice drive across central Washington . . . to Grand Coulee Dam . . . 60 miles of open fields and range land . . . up past the coulee, now Banks Lake where the water from Roosevelt Lake is pumped over and into for irrigation . . .

Gorgeous day . . . beautiful scenery along the way . . . following the Columbia River back down . . .

This is Chief Joseph Dam . . . a few miles downstream from Grand Coulee Dam. And as I follow the river back down to Wenatchee I pass several more . . . not to speak of the orchards!

This is early spring . . . apple blossom festival in Wenatchee . . . and the blossoms are on the trees!

A view of Banks Lake . . . between Coulee City and Electric City . . . yes, all of these dams generate power . . . a lot of it . . .

Orchard upon orchard . . . upon orchard . . . and all starting to bloom . . . apples, pears, cherries . . . pretty nice to drive through it all.

Took a break from the driving . . . stopped to see Leavenworth . . . the nice little Bavarvian town in the cascade mountains . . . it is a cute little tourist trap . . . several wineries offering tastes in town.

Seeing where there are lots of Washington wineries in this area. Haven't gone to search out the vines, but did stop to see some of the labels and offerings . . .

Finally, for today . . . a look from Wenatchee toward Leavenworth . . . some of the area wandered about today . . .

Now back to the apple blossom festival . . .

Not a bad little pic from my drive up to this current project . . . along the Columbia River Gorge . . . crossing from Oregon into Washington . . . a lot of power in all that water.
