A nice drive across central Washington . . . to Grand Coulee Dam . . . 60 miles of open fields and range land . . . up past the coulee, now Banks Lake where the water from Roosevelt Lake is pumped over and into for irrigation . . .
Gorgeous day . . . beautiful scenery along the way . . . following the Columbia River back down . . .
This is Chief Joseph Dam . . . a few miles downstream from Grand Coulee Dam. And as I follow the river back down to Wenatchee I pass several more . . . not to speak of the orchards!
This is early spring . . . apple blossom festival in Wenatchee . . . and the blossoms are on the trees!
A view of Banks Lake . . . between Coulee City and Electric City . . . yes, all of these dams generate power . . . a lot of it . . .
Orchard upon orchard . . . upon orchard . . . and all starting to bloom . . . apples, pears, cherries . . . pretty nice to drive through it all.
Took a break from the driving . . . stopped to see Leavenworth . . . the nice little Bavarvian town in the cascade mountains . . . it is a cute little tourist trap . . . several wineries offering tastes in town.
Seeing where there are lots of Washington wineries in this area. Haven't gone to search out the vines, but did stop to see some of the labels and offerings . . .
Finally, for today . . . a look from Wenatchee toward Leavenworth . . . some of the area wandered about today . . .
Now back to the apple blossom festival . . .
